Wildlife camera
The wildlife camera, also called a camera trap, is a camera that captures an image or video when it moves. With a wildlife camera you can photograph animals in their natural environment without disturbing them. The camera is equipped with a motion sensor or an infrared sensor that records images when there is movement or increased temperature. A wildlife camera also often contains a camouflage pattern, so that it does not stand out.
Wildlife camera applications
A wildlife camera ensures that you see what happens at night and during the day in the forest, in the garden or on your property. They are widely used for studies of animal behavior, so that people do not have to disturb the animals' behavior but can still collect images. In addition, wildlife cameras are perfect for seeing what is happening at or around your location(s). The cameras can be set so that they only start recording when motion is detected. For example, you can secure your storage very well with a wildlife camera, receive a notification on your mobile or laptop as soon as the cameras detect movement and watch LIVE! (this is possible with the 4G/3G/WIFI models). You can also set a camera so that it takes a video/photo every x number of seconds/minutes, this is useful when you want to monitor progress on your construction site, the growth of a plant or something else over a longer period of time.
Advantages of camera trap
For research into animal behavior, wildlife cameras have major advantages over direct observation of animal behavior. You can share the footage that a wildlife camera produces with other people so that behavior can be better evaluated. In addition, the habitat is minimally disturbed compared to being constantly present in animal territory. The cameras are many times cheaper than other items.
How do I place a wildlife camera?
In addition to a good quality wildlife camera, the location where the camera is mounted is a decisive factor for collecting good footage. Placing the camera in a frequently visited place for animals (water point, feeding point) ensures a greater chance of success. Of course you can also increase the chances of success by, for example, hanging a salt lick or other attractant (fish or fish oil also works very well). Depending on the animal species you want to photograph or film, you also determine the height at which the camera is hung. For large game such as deer and boar, it is recommended to hang the camera at a height of approximately 100cm. Do you want to make images of martens or even smaller animals? Then it is recommended to hang the camera at a height of approximately 40cm. Never place the wildlife camera directly on the ground

SD card
There are of course many different SD cards available on the market. SD cards up to 32GB can be used in most wildlife cameras. We always recommend using video class 10 due to the high image quality of our cameras. A handy tip if you use your wildlife camera a lot: use 2 SD cards! While you remove the full SD card from your camera to view the images or videos, insert the empty SD card directly into the camera. This way your wildlife camera is always on standby. Our own brand cards are highly recommended!
Wild camera accessories
In addition to the SD card, there are of course many accessories available for the camera trap. A handy tool for viewing your footage on your smartphone is the SD card reader so you can view the images directly on your laptop or PC! A solar panel, adapter, battery charger or camera protection/lock are also highly recommended! This saves costs and can make using the cameras more pleasant.
